It’s always surprising when you don’t receive RSVPs at all or if they come in much later than requested. Knowing the total number of expected guests is critical at weddings and other large events.

When to RSVP for Weddings & Tips for Responding
As an invited guest, here are some helpful tips for responding to your invitation:
- Reply as soon as possible. Don’t put the invitation in your “todo” pile unless you need to ask the availability of the other person whose name by on the invitation with yours. If that’s the case, reach out to them as soon as you receive the invitation so you don’t have to wait long.
- Respond in the same manner that the invitation was issued. If it came in mail, mail back with the reply card. If it was emailed, then reply directly to that email. Keep an eye out for any specific requests, such as replying on the bride and groom’s website.
- Keep your reply brief. If you aren’t able to attend, there’s no need to go into detail about why you can’t be there.
- If a reply is not requested, it is not necessary to respond.
