5 Tips for Planning Your Wedding on a Budget

We help some brides with full checkbook weddings. But we help brides who are big on love but short on funds. There are many ways to work with available funds without sacrificing styles and elegance on your big day.

5 Wedding Budget Tips

  1. Plan for Off-Season – One of the best money savers is to plan your wedding during the off-season. Depending on where you live, November and January can be slow times. The off-season may be different in areas, but the laws of supply and demand work in all seasons. When demand is down, supply may well cost less. Supply can include reception locations, food service, flowers and a range of other wedding related items.
  2. Be Flexible With Your Day and Time – If you don’t have much flex in the time of year you want or need, consider flex in the day you choose or the time or the ceremony/reception. Plan a morning ceremony followed by a brunch buffet. You will find more locations available earlier in the day and the food served will be far less expensive than a sit-down dinner.
  3. Plan a Small and Intimate Wedding – If your budget is tight, or your family is scattered, consider a small and intimate wedding with only a few close friends in attendance, which can be romantic and memorable. Rather than a gathering of 150 friends and acquaintances, a small gathering of friends and family can be more meaningful.
  4. Stay Organized – Brides who stay organized often save money on their wedding expenses. They gather and keep every receipt and log every expense by category. It’s much easier to stay in budget when you pay attention to decisions made and contracts signed.
  5. Decide What’s Most Important – Determine which of the major wedding-related expenses are the most important to you. Is it your gown, the reception, the honeymoon or the photographer? Look at covering that expense first and then adjust the remaining funds accordingly.
